Root Canal Therapy
Save an infected or inflamed tooth instead of losing it, with clear steps and honest answers about comfort.
What does a family dentist do?
A family dentist provides general dental care for adults and children in one office. That covers preventing problems, finding them early and repairing teeth. The ADA notes that a family dentist who cares for patients of all ages can also see a child for their first visit.

Which general dentistry services do we offer?
Dental exams and cleanings
A hygienist cleans your teeth and a dentist checks your teeth, gums and mouth, with X-rays when you need them and an oral cancer screening at every checkup.
Children's dentistry
Checkups, cleanings, sealants and fluoride for kids.
Tooth-colored fillings
Composite fillings repair small cavities and chips in a color that matches your tooth.
Same-day crowns
A crown covers and strengthens a cracked or heavily filled tooth. Our in-office CEREC system can make a crown at the same visit.
Root canal therapy
Removes dead or dying nerve tissue and bacteria from inside an infected tooth to save it.
Tooth extractions
A tooth may need to come out because of deep infection, gum disease, crowding or injury.
Gum disease care
Deep cleaning (scaling and root planing), laser therapy and periodontal maintenance. We may refer advanced gum disease to a periodontist (gum specialist).
To replace missing teeth, see dental implants, bridges and dentures.
How often should you see a general dentist?
How often you need a checkup depends on your mouth. The American Dental Association says some people need to visit once or twice a year and others need more. Your dentist sets a schedule for you based on your gums, your risk of cavities and your health.
What does general dentistry cost?
Cost depends on the treatment, the materials and your insurance. Call us for insurance details, and ask about payment options on our insurance and payment page.

What is the difference between a family dentist and a general dentist?
Both provide the same everyday care. A family dentist sees patients of all ages, so children and adults can be seen in one place.
Do you see children?
Yes. We see patients of all ages, including children. The ADA advises a first dental visit after the first tooth appears and no later than the first birthday. Call us to talk about your child's age before you book.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, our dentists are currently accepting new patients. Book online or call (704) 875-7200, and we can tell you what to bring to your first visit.
